18 Palms in Vieques

Vieques rental
Casa Blanca has some nice coconut palms. When the coconuts fall off the trees, they get tossed over the fence. Since horses and cows don't eat them, they sometimes grow into palm trees!
Recently I dug up 18 small palms and transplanted them around the grounds.
Pray for good growth.
Today is October 17th,The mango trees are past their fruit but the limons (1/2 lemon 1/2 lime) and starfruit are prime, bananas are not yet ripe on Vieques.

One Million Years in Vieques

1,000,000.00 years

I read that it would take that long to bio-degrade a glass bottle thrown into the bushes.
Vieques Island has extreme natural beauty in stark contrast to some man-made wreckage that is to be observed on the island.
The navy used to do target practice at one end of the island, you will not see anything they blasted to smithereens, but you will see some occupied homes that look like they were hit by stray torpedos.
Help preserve the natural beauty and
save Vieques by trashing your trash properly.

La Casa Blanca Vieques - front steps

The road in front is dirt, not asphalt, it has no name and extends 1 mile past the Villa before ending at a fantastic house higher up the hillside. Take a walk up there if you are not afraid to meet a cow while in Puerto Rico.
There are about six more houses on the high end of the road. They are all villas for rent by the week. Chain link fences keep the wandering cows out of the yard so they won't eat the landscaping. There is no cow fragrance to be concerned about. If anything, you will smell flowers.

Starlight Lounge Vieques Puerto Rico

Vacation in The Vieques Starlight Lounge.
This is my name for the open air patio where you can turn all lights off, lay back in a lounge chair and wonder about the universe.
A thousand stars will twinkle on a clear night.
The beach, a daytime Vieques destination is a whole different story from the nights.
The night sounds are incredible.
No sirens
No trucks roaring down a highway.
No screamin next door neighbors.
The bugs and critters go into concert-mode after dark,
What an unbelievable symphony it is!
If you are a nature lover you have to hear this.
It's a real Carribean Island wonder.

Swing for a while , Vieques will accomodate your needs

Office chair - Vieques style

Swing your cares away, that is what your vacation is about.

Feeling good will jumpstart your latent love for life,
so don't forget to just swing awhile.
(The hammock is at the Vieques Villa Casa Blanca Rustica,
the rasta boy is swinging in Esperanza behind La Nasa, a favorite weekend hangout for the island residents).
About the beachs- they are beyond great.. good clean sand and clean, warm water,
with very little creepy seaweedy stuff.

Visiting Puerto Rico? Try a Razz ma Tazz.

Razz ma Tazz- the tradition at Vieques Villa Casa Blanca

Imagine it's your second night on the island.

You stopped for groceries and beverages at the Green Store in Esperanza, after
getting a little too much sun.
Were you trying to catch up with all the dark tans you saw on people who have been relaxing there for a week?

Get yourself up the hill for showers and cocktails, cook up a nice dinner to be enjoyed in the Great Room or on the veranda. Settle in or take a trip back to Esperanza for socializing after sunset.

How to make yourself a Razz ma Tazz:

Cut a wedge of lime and rub it inside and outside the rim of your glass.

Dip your glass into white sugar to coat the rim.

Fill glass with ice.

Add dark Puerto Rican rum till 1/3 full, and

finish with pineapple juice and the wedge.
(You can substitute a limon for the lime, pick a yellow one off the tree in the back.)
While you are out there, see if the mangos or starfruit are ripe.
The coconuts are delicious but difficult to break open.

Hilltop Breezes

Hilltop breezes blow warm and cool.

Your friends staying in town are dying for air as they lay upon their mattress's.

But not you..

Because you are on the hill top at La Casa Blanca Rustica, and the tropical winds are blowing up the valley straight into your arms.

Vieques is a dream and part of the dream is the wind.

Stay with us and ride the wind, stay in town and you'll wish you hadn't.

Two tickets to Paradise Red Beach Vieques Island

'Two Tickets to Paradise'. I have heard those lyrics a jillion times on my local rock station and never knew it was all written about Vieques, also known as Isla Nina... Little Girl Island, like a pearl hanging round the neck of mainland Puerto Rico.

Hidden coves with white sand, wild palms, and frothy waves, sweeter than a mocha grande with extra sugar.
Once you get here you won't want to leave - stay 2 weeks.
